What candles costs in Bakersfield

Handmade candles in Bakersfield usually run $15-$40 depending on size, wax, and scent; soy and beeswax cost more than paraffin but burn cleaner and longer. Larger jars and gift sets run higher.

What to look for in a candle shop in Bakersfield

  • Read reviews for scent throw and consistency — weak scent or tunneling are the usual complaints.
  • Look for soy, coconut, or beeswax wax if you want a cleaner, longer burn than paraffin.
  • Check that scents use quality fragrance or essential oils and aren't overpowering unlit.
  • Support local Bakersfield makers — small-batch candles are often better poured and better value than mass brands.
  • Ask about burn time and wick type; a cotton or wood wick and a full wax pool matter.

Questions to ask before you buy

  • What wax and wick do you use, and how long does it burn?
  • Are the fragrances phthalate-free or made with essential oils?
  • Do you make candles in-house or resell?
  • Do you offer custom scents or gift sets?
  • Can I pick up locally in Bakersfield?

Many Bakersfield listings also carry soy, beeswax, and scented candles, gifts, and candle-making supplies.

Frequently asked questions

How much do handmade candles cost in Bakersfield?

Handmade candles from Bakersfield shops usually run $15 to $40 depending on size, wax, and scent. Soy and beeswax cost more than paraffin but burn cleaner and longer.

What is the best type of candle wax?

Soy, coconut, and beeswax burn cleaner and longer than paraffin and hold scent well. Many Bakersfield makers use them, so ask what a shop pours.

Why is my candle tunneling or burning too fast?

It is usually a wick or wax-pool issue. Trim the wick to about a quarter inch and let the first burn melt the top edge to edge. A good shop can recommend the right size.

Do Bakersfield candle shops make custom scents or gift sets?

Many small makers offer custom scents, gift sets, and local pickup. Ask the shops above, as it is a common request for weddings and events.
